SRC SR8-2 AEG - Black
Originally designed under the US Army's Objective Individual Combat Weapon (OICW) program; the XM8 was a part of a complete weapon system which was then later separated from the program to be a stand alone weapon. The XM8 was a weapons concept the US Army was hoping to replace the standard M4 / M16 weapons platforms for the standard infantry rifle in favor of a much more modular and lightweight space age design. The goal was for a cheaper, lighter, and easier to maintain all-in-one weapons platform that can be easily re-configured into multiple variations to fill various roles on the battlefield from a short barreled PDW to a bipod equipped support weapon.
SRC now makes one of the best XM8 AEG's on the market with their new gen.2 Tokyo Marui type Version 3 reinforced gearbox. The new generation gearbox features 8mm bushings, reinforced steel gears, and a metal hop-up chamber. The rifle's receiver, front, and rear assembly are all constructed out of high impact reinforced polymers to cut down on weight and the adjustable stock helps keep a compact profile. The rifle itself has completely ambidextrous controls to cater to both left and right handed shooters. A 1.5x scope is integrated to the rifles upper receiver and carrying handle with a set of flip up back up iron sights.
